01 / Overview

Assessment overview

Riftweld conducted a targeted security assessment of the Roamerwave payment platform to evaluate its resilience against application-layer attacks, API exploitation, authorization weaknesses and payment workflow abuse.

The assessment focused on identifying vulnerabilities that could allow malicious actors to manipulate financial transactions, bypass access controls, impersonate trusted payment events, access unauthorized merchant data or exploit weaknesses in recurring-payment workflows.

Rather than validating whether application features function as intended, the engagement examined how the platform's security controls behave under adversarial conditions.

02 / Scope

Security assessment scope

01. Payment Manipulation & Transaction Integrity

Evaluated whether an attacker could manipulate payment requests, alter transaction amounts, change payment recipients, bypass transaction validation or interfere with payment confirmation and settlement.

02. API Exploitation & Broken Access Control

Examined API endpoints for unauthorized access, insecure direct object references (IDOR), privilege escalation and weaknesses that could expose customer, merchant or administrative operations.

03. Webhook Exploitation & Event Forgery

Assessed the integrity of payment notifications, including webhook signature validation, replay attacks, forged payment events and the possibility of triggering unauthorized payment-state changes.

04. Business Logic & Payment Workflow Abuse

Investigated whether payment workflows could be abused through unexpected sequences of actions, repeated requests, manipulated payment mandates, retry abuse or attempts to bypass cancellation and charging restrictions.

05. Cross-Tenant Access & Data Isolation

Examined whether one merchant or organization could access another tenant's information, manipulate another merchant's resources or perform operations outside its authorized environment.

06. Payment-State Manipulation & Reconciliation Attacks

Investigated weaknesses involving duplicate transactions, delayed or reordered events, inconsistent payment states, reconciliation mismatches and opportunities to exploit discrepancies between payment records and actual transaction outcomes.

03 / Approach

Assessment approach

The engagement followed a security-focused testing approach informed by established application and API security methodologies.

Activities included:

  • Attack-surface and exposed-endpoint analysis.
  • Authentication and authorization testing.
  • Adversarial manipulation of payment and API requests.
  • Business-logic abuse-case assessment.
  • Cross-tenant access testing.
  • Webhook integrity and replay-resistance testing.
  • Security impact analysis and evidence collection.

04 / Outcome

Assessment outcome

The engagement was intended to identify exploitable weaknesses that could compromise transaction integrity, expose sensitive merchant or customer information, undermine payment authorization or affect the reliability of Roamerwave's payment ecosystem.

Riftweld documented security findings, supporting evidence, potential business impact and actionable remediation recommendations to help strengthen the platform against realistic attack scenarios.
